A database is a set of data that has been arranged in
such a way as to certain provisions or rules that are interrelated so that it
makes it easier for users to manage it also makes it easier to obtain information.
Besides that there are also those that define the database
as a
collection of interconnected files, tables, or records stored in electronic
media. Some of the benefits of databases that we can get include:
Speed and Ease
Use together
Centralized data control
Save device costs
Data security
Facilitate the Making of new applications
The
Delphi is an IDE (Integrated Development Environment is a computer program that
has several facilities needed in software development. The purpose of IDE
Compiler for Pascal programming language and software development environment
is used to design an application program).
Delphi
provides complete facilities for processing databases. Various database formats
can be processed by Delphi, for example databases with Paradox, dBase,
Ms-Access, ODBC, Oracle, SQL Server and others.
Before Delphi, Borland had long issued a very
well-known database management program, the Paradox program. With Delphi, the
capabilities of the Paradox program are getting better and more perfect.
In a
local database, the database format used is usually Paradox, dBase, or Access.
Database This local can also be used for multi-user applications, but does not
have client-server application capabilities. The basic difference between
multi-user and client-server systems is that in a multi-user system, the server
only provides data, all manipulation processes are carried out on the client
computer. Whereas in the client-server system, in addition to the server
providing data, there is also a division of the burden of tasks between the
client and server in the process of data manipulation.
To
process databases with large enough data and quite a lot of users, you should
use a database format that supports client-server, for example SyBASE, Oracle
or SQL Server.
